This week’s spellings. The spelling test will be Friday 22nd January.
To help support your child learning their spellings, there is a quiz to complete at home which can be accessed if you log into Purple Mash and click on the ‘Alerts’ icon.

Supporting your child at home

The Year 2 team would like to thank all of the family members at home who are helping with home learning.  We know learning from home can be tricky but we are very proud of the efforts all of the Year 2 children are making.

For Maths next week we have put together this knowledge organiser to help you to support your child’s Maths learning.  We hope you find it useful!

School Dinner menu W/B 18th January 2021

Below is the hot dinner menu available for those children attending school next week

 

Monday-  Hot dogs.  Potato wedge’s.  Baked bean’s. Pea’s.   Ice-cream.

Tuesday-  Meatballs. Pasta twists. Tomato sauce. Seasonal Veg.  Biscuit/cake.

Wednesday-  Sliced pork.  Herby potato’s. Seasonal veg.  Fruit jelly.

Thursday-  Breaded chicken. Rice. Curry sauce. Seasonal veg.  Biscuit/cake.

Friday-  Fish. Chip’s. Baked beans. Sweetcorn/pea’s.  Mousse.

Year 2 Home Learning – Friday 15th January

Hello Year 2! 
Well done for having another fantastic week! 😊

There will be two live lessons on Friday, Maths at 9.30am (looking at Venn diagrams) and Literacy at 11am (looking at a new story book).  You should have received an invite for this session however if not, then you can join the meeting through the Teams app. Please come to each meeting armed with paper and a pen to write.

Following the lesson, the worksheets below should be completed.  You do not need to print this sheet but the children will need to see it so they can work out their answers.

If you are unable to attend the live sessions, a recording of the lesson will always be available afterwards.  Worksheets and any further instructions will be shared via the website. We understand that this is tricky for some of you working from home, especially those with siblings so we understand that it is not always possible to join live. We hope the recordings help to support this.

And for a bit of fun – can you sort the pirates onto the Venn/Carroll diagrams? If you cannot print these sheets you could have a go at drawing your own pirates instead!

E-safety top tip – live lessons

The children are adapting so well to the new ways of learning.  We are receiving many positive comments from children, parents and staff about the live lessons which are taking place every day.  Thank you for your support at home to help make these lessons a success!

As you know, online safety and the safety of our children is very important to all staff at Newdale.  Therefore we want to share with you our latest code of conduct for children to adhere to during live lessons.  Please can you ensure your child knows and follows these rules:

  • Cameras.  We would like the children to have their cameras turned on for the beginning of each session.  It is important for the children to be able to see their peers and it is the perfect opportunity for them to say hello to their friends.
  • Recording.  Each live lesson is recorded so it can be seen at a later time or be referred back to.  If you do not wish for your child to be on the recording then you will need to ensure they have turned their camera off at the appropriate time.  Each teacher will announce when the recording is about to begin.
  • Clothing. Pupils need to be in appropriate clothing during the live lessons.
  • Location.  Parents need to take responsibility as to the location of where the live lessons take place.  We recommend that if your child is attending any live lesson from their bedroom, then they should keep their bedroom door open.

Please remember that Newdale staff are very experienced in supporting E Safety and only happy to help should you need advice and support.

Year 1 PE Days

Hello Year 1 families,

We are aware that there has been some confusion over PE days. Apologies for any misunderstandings. I can confirm that PE days are:

Wednesday (outdoor) and Thursday (indoor).

We have Forest School on Tuesday afternoons.
