Carding Mill Valley

Dear Parents/ Carers,

Our trip to Carding Mill Valley is next week on Wednesday 16th July. Children will need to be appropriately dressed for lots of walking and our river activities. We would like everyone to wear their PE kit due to the forecasted hot weather. They will also need comfortable footwear (trainers). As we will be standing in shallow parts of the river, they will also need to bring long wellington boots in their bags along with their lunch. As it will be hot, please also remember plenty of water, sun cream and a hat.

If you have not yet consented to the trip, please do so as soon as possible.

Please discuss any issues with your child’s class teacher.

Kind regards,

The Year 5 Team

Achievement Assemby

Friday 4th July 2025

This week the children have had a fantastique day celebrating France and French culture. The children have fully immersed themselves in a range of different activities ranging from sampling delicious French treats, exploring the language, playing pétanque and participating with traditional French dancing. It has been formidable jour! We could not end the day without celebrating Mrs Lefroy, who will be retiring from Newdale next week after 16 wonderful years. She was treated to a surprise assembly, complete with mystery food tasting, a sing-along, and a poem performed by a group of Year 6 children.

Goodbye, Mrs Lefroy—we’ll all miss you dearly and wish you a long, happy, and well-deserved retirement!”

House Points

This week, Severn continue to take the lead with a huge 1646 points! They are closely followed by Wrekin, with 1427. Ironbridge have 1384 points, while Wenlock have 1191. With only one week left to go, who will be the next winners of the house celebration?

French Day – Friday 4th July

We are excited to announce our upcoming whole-school French day which will be on Friday 4th July  for pupils from Nursery to Year 6. This event has been designed to immerse pupils in the French language and culture through fun and engaging activities.

Pupils can come into school dressed in red, white and blue or even create a costume inspired by a famous French landmark. Throughout the day there will be various activities for the children to participate with including, cooking, handball, pétanque, Farandole (a traditional Provence dance) and much more.

Learning a language goes beyond vocabulary- it opens minds, builds confidence and encourages global awareness. By celebrating France, we help children develop a deeper appreciation for diversity and strengthen their language skills in an enjoyable way.

There will also be the option to have a French themed dinner which consists of quiche, ratatouille, and chocolate mousse, alongside the normal fish and chips which will be served.

If you would like to make a voluntary contribution of £2.00 to support the resources on the day, please log into parent pay.

Thank you for your continued support.

French day

Nursery will be celebrating country’s from around the world on Friday. Our one will be France. For our fun filled French themed activities we are asking if possible children to wear the colours blue, white and red or French attire
Thank you

School Uniform

As the weather is getting warmer, please can you ensure that your child has a water bottle, a sun hat and wears sun cream to school. If your child needs to reapply sunscreen during the day, we ask that it’s kept in their bag with their name on, and then applied by the themselves when appropriate.

Just a quick reminder about our uniform policy…

At Newdale our school colours are navy blueblack and grey.

We request children wear a navy jumper or cardigan and grey or black skirts / pinafores or trousers along with a light blue collared shirt. If you would like to order uniform with our school logo on, please do so via Baker and Sons Schoolwear in New Street, Wellington 01952 641897.  This is not compulsory: uniform without a logo is acceptable as long as it matches our chosen colours. In warmer months, blue gingham dresses / black or grey smart shorts can be worn.  Please ensure that these are of an appropriate length and aren’t too high above the knee.

All children need to wear sensible shoes (no heels or trainers please). In the colder weather, girls are permitted to wear black, navy or grey tights.

PE Kit

We have decided that we will continue with allowing children to come to school in their School PE kit on PE days. The reasons for this is linked to the time it takes for some children to get changed often eats significantly into the actual time carrying out PE lessons. It is also much simpler to do this, when looking at the lack of private space for children to get changed, and the unhygienic option of them getting changed in the toilets.

The school PE kit is as follows –

A plain or school logo navy PE top

Plain navy shorts or tracksuit bottoms

A plain or school logo navy sweatshirt/hoodie

Black pumps or trainers

We do ask that no sports logo kit is used as school PE kit please – they must be either plain or with the Newdale logo. It is important that everyone abides by our uniform rules as we know how important is it that children feel part of our Newdale team.

Thank you for your continued support.

We hope you continue to enjoy this glorious weather.

Photo Consent for Careers Day

As you all know, we had a fantastic careers day this week. We are very grateful to the people that came in to share what they do with our children.

Some of our visitors have asked if they can be sent some of the photoshots we took to put on their social media eg the police would like some to form part of their safer neighbourhood work.

We know who does not give photo consent in our school, but just wanted to check everyone else is happy for this to happen.

If you are not, please contact the office by Friday lunchtime.

Kind regards,
