PE dates summer term

During the summer term, the year 6 PE days will be on a Tuesday and Wednesday. On Tuesday, the children will take part in indoor gymnastics and on a Wednesday it will be an outdoor Crossbar session.

Interhouse Football Competition

Newdale held their first interhouse competition yesterday. First place teams (boys and girls) will earn 100 house points for their teams. 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th places will be announced tomorrow in assembly.

 

Year 3 boys – Ironbridge won after playing Wenlock in the final with the game finishing 2-2. The game then went to penalties with Ironbridge winning 3-2.

Year 3 girls – Wrekin won after playing Wenlock in the final game finishing 3-2 to the winners Wrekin.

Competitions for other year groups will be taking place in the coming weeks.

Easter Raffle 2025

Well done to Rheya in Reception who is the lucky winner of our 1st prize in this year’s Easter raffle!

All other winners have been contacted directly.

In total we have raised a fantastic £497.00! Thank you to everyone who bought a ticket.

Money raised will go straight into school to fund trips/experiences for our children.

NSPCC parent session – Wednesday 7th May

On Wednesday 7th May, the NSPCC will be doing a face-to-face session all about how to keep your child safe online. This session will run at Newdale Primary school from 2:00-3:00pm. Please note this session is only for parents/carers to attend due to the context of the session.

Curriculum Governors Involvement

The Curriculum Governor Committee met yesterday. They enjoyed listening to a group of girls talk about the sporting opportunities in our school and were pleased to hear that the offer is equal for both boys and girls.

Governors attended the Year 3 interhouse football competition on the astro and were delighted to see the inclusive nature of this event and the buzz of excitement from the children.

Governors had a focus on the role of the teaching assistant in our school and looked in particular at the key worker project that we run. They were impressed with the impact of this project on our children.

Governors reviewed the latest report from the school improvement partner which was linked to writing across the school.

Reception Height and Weight Checks

Height and Weight checks for Reception children will take place in school on Thursday 8th May. Please see attachments for further information.

Forms will be sent home this week, if you wish to withdraw your child from the check, please return this form by Thursday 1st April.

If you are happy for your child to have the check, you do not need to do anything.

Childcare funding for working families

Working families across Telford and Wrekin can sign up for tax free childcare.

For every £80 you spend on childcare, they could get an extra £20 through the government’s Childcare Choices. They can claim a maximum of £2,000 each year to help cover the cost of childcare. This includes wraparound care such as breakfast and after school clubs!

🌟🌟 Friday 4th April – Achievement Assembly 🌟🌟

Friday 4th April 2025

This week, we have loved enjoying the sunshine during our break and lunchtimes. We certainly hope this weather continues so that you can continue playing outside over the weekend. On Monday, Year 4 were out on another trip – visiting the local library and town park. Year 6 visited The Telford Langley School to enjoy a performance of Matilda and Year 5 made the most of the weather by completing their Spring nature walk. Year 2 have also really impressed this week with their excellent independent writing during Chance to Shine.

BeSMART Cup winners who will have a special treat next week:

Mrs Everall’s class for representing Newdale brilliantly on our recent trips and when we have had visitors in school.

House Points

 

With only one week to go, Ironbridge remain in the lead. However, we have two inter-house sports competitions next week in Years 3 and 4. The winning house in each competition will be awarded 100 house points (following by 75 for third place, 50 for second and 25 for fourth). It is still all to play for!

 

Achievers of the week:

Year 6 achievers: Fynn for his superb effort in his writing this week and amazing improvement in his recent SATs practice papers and Lilly for always having a fantastic attitude to learning and being a great helper in the classroom.

Year 5 achievers:  Year 5 were off enjoying their nature walk this afternoon so will be nominating two achievers next week.

Year 4 achievers: Noah for being a fantastic representative of Newdale during trips and competitions and Basit for beautiful presentation of his Maths work and a fantastic character description in Literacy this week.

Year 3 achievers: Alex for his attention to detail and carefully taking his time to complete his African inspired print in Art this week. Eden for his beautiful African inspired printing and working hard on his perseverance in lessons.

Year 2 achievers: Omish for improving his handwriting, working hard on his chance to shine and for following the BeSMART code. Emilia for consistently working hard and having a positive attitude towards all aspects of learning.

Year 1 achievers: Iris for being the best class helper and always doing jobs for the teachers and her friends and Louie for a super attitude this week and working hard in phonics.

Year R achievers: Harper-Faye for her enthusiasm to our learning and for taking pride in our classroom. Alfie for wonderful progress, always working really hard in class and trying his best.

 

Readers of the week – these children were entered into our weekly reading raffle:

Year 6 readers: Freddie for reading regularly and completing several book reviews for our reading wall. Egbert for reading everyday this week and completing his reading task – super work!

Year 5 readers: CJ for really impressing me with his reading effort and comments this week.  Aidan who has worked so hard on both his handwriting and comprehension skills, using his Reading Diary to practise both every day.

Year 4 readers: Ezra, who won a new book in our KS2 raffle, was chosen for huge improvement in her number of reads and how well she is reading! Niall for consistently reading each week and writing detailed diary entries.

Year 3 readers: Jessica for her improved number of reads this week. Well done, keep it up! Violet for a fantastic improvement in her reading comments and getting a gold award! Well done Violet!

Year 2 readers: Emily for showing great improvement in her reading at school and at home. Miss Lowe’s reader was chosen for lots of fantastic reading at home.

Year 1 readers: Elsie for independent reading and writing in her diary ally by herself each day. CJ, who won a new book in our KS2 raffle, for reading this week and writing in his communication diary. Keep up the super work CJ.
